How did cornhole get its name?
The name cornhole comes from the early versions of the game where the bags were literally filled with corn kernels. The object being to throw the bag of corn through the hole leads quite easily to the name cornhole. In fact, getting a bag in the hole is still called a cornhole in some places.
Modern versions of cornhole bags have since replaced the corn with a plastic resin filling. Unlike corn, resin doesn’t get mold or rot, or leave dust all over the board when the bag hits it. Resin is a lot more controllable too – not just for weight and size – but also for bag performance.
