Any Tips for Improving my Cornhole Game?
- Learn to throw a flat bag first. Consistency is the key to high scoring. Only after you’ve mastered the flat bag and the push shot should you work on rolls, cuts, etc.
- Arm follow through is everything. Make sure you’re properly following through for that flat bag.
- Practice regularly to improve your accuracy and consistency. Play a deckaround by yourself and keep track of your PPR
- Experiment with different bag types and grips to find what works best for you. The best place to try new bags is a blind draw.
- Be aware of the wind conditions and adjust your throws accordingly.
- Don’t try to airmail if you don’t have to. It’s a lower percentage shot.
- Be nice to other players. Ask their advice, take their tips.
- Watch the pros play and try to emulate their techniques.

Finally something concise and helpful, thanks! One thing I really liked about these instructions is to hold back airmail shots. I think that’s the first beginner mistake. Airmail is undoubtedly the most hyped and difficult shot in cornhole and that’s where the beginners spend a lot of time. Cornhole bags are literally made for sliding, blocking, pushing, and rolling. Companies have spent millions to make the fabric that can execute these advanced shots. So, my advice is to always learn the basics – different types of shots, different types of bags, and even different types of boards before trying shots like airmail.
